Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth & Poole, Dorset
Contract Type: Full-time or part time
Salary: £300-550 per week

Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team in a school based in Dorset. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children and experience supporting young learners with special educational needs. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children while fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities
  • Help to create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement
  • Support students with a variety of SEN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and learning difficulties
  • Manage and assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Assist with personal care needs where required
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to ensure the well-being and progress of students
  • Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic development
  • Monitor and report on student progress and development

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children, ideally within an educational or special needs setting
  • Understanding of special educational needs and how to support students with a variety of learning needs
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children and staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN-specific training) is desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undertake one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
