Location: Walsall
Salary: £27000 - 50000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for permanency)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join a successful 7–18 special school for pupils with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The school caters to pupils with moderate learning difficulties alongside additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and some behavioural challenges.
As part of a supportive team, you will work in small classes with the support of teaching assistants, delivering engaging and tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils. The school follows the Team Teach behaviour management system, and you will be supported with training to implement this effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, individualised lessons that align with the needs of pupils with EHCPs.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure pupils receive holistic support.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, using this to inform and adapt teaching strategies.
- Engage with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to pupil development.
- Uphold the principles of the Team Teach behaviour management system.
About You
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- Have experience working with pupils with special educational needs, particularly those with autism, speech and language difficulties, or behavioural challenges.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage pupils with diverse needs.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pupils, colleagues, and families.
- Be resilient, reflective, and committed to continuous professional development.
