SEN Teacher – SEMH School in Southampton

The PWR team at Teaching Personnel are working with a well-regarded SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southampton to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that offers tailored education for students facing significant emotional and behavioural challenges.

The school is known for its innovative approach to teaching, where every student's needs are met through individualized learning plans and therapeutic interventions. With a strong focus on pastoral care, the successful candidate will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals to help students thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Details:

  • Location: Southampton
  • Start Date: Easter or February half term (dependent on candidate availability)
  • Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance

The Role:

  • Teaching small groups of students with SEMH needs across Key Stage 3 and 4
  • Adapting lessons to meet students’ individual learning styles and emotional needs
  • Creating a safe and supportive environment where students can learn and develop key skills
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, behaviour specialists, and external agencies to implement effective strategies
  • Supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic growth in line with their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent SEN teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching students with SEMH needs or other additional learning challenges
  • Be passionate about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Possess strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students with complex needs
  • Be flexible, patient, and resilient, with a commitment to supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
