SEN School Support Worker
Job description
Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a school in Thornbury, to support with students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLMD). The school is an Outstanding school for boys and girls aged from 2 to 19 with exceptional needs. The school boasts a creative and engaging learning environment, encouraging pupils to explore different ideas and develop skills in a range of contexts.
They are seeking a skilled and creative Teaching Assistant to provide direct support for individual pupils with SEND. You will contribute to meeting pupil’s need and achievement of their EHCP outcomes. As part of the role, you would need to ocnfident in leading the class in the teachers absence.
The role would particularly suit candidates with some experience of working with pupils with severe learning disabilities (SLD), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and autistic spectrum condition (ASC).
The school boosts a range of up-to-date facilities such as:
- Spacious classrooms, with a separate small workroom. Each classroom has ceiling hoists.
- Wide corridors, lifts and secure doors

- Sensory studios
- Secure play areas
- Sensory diet area
- Swimming/Hydrotherapy pool
- Life skills room
Candidate must have:
- Good communication skills
- Experience of working in a team
- Ability to follow policy and procedures
- Skills and attributes of caring, adaptability, tolerance, acceptance and integrity
About the role:
- January start
- 08:30- 4:30
- Term time only
- £13.75 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
