SEN Primary Teacher
Job description
I am working with a lovely Primary school in Portsmouth, who are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEND), from moderate to complex learning and physical needs. The school are set in lovely spacious grounds and they strive to deliver a caring, respectful, and positive environment with the aim of empowering each child to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role:
As an SEN Primary Teacher, you will:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of children with SEN, including those with autism, learning disabilities, and other complex needs.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to support children’s learning, communication, and social development.
- Work closely with a team of dedicated Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and other professionals to create an individualized learning journey for each child.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes independence and builds self-esteem.
- Collaborate with parents and carers to ensure consistent support both in and out of school.
Requirements:
- A fully qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
- A strong understanding of SEN, including experience working with children who have a variety of needs.
- A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop individualised learning plans and track progress.
- A commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
