Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN Secondary School) – Specialising in ASD & ADHD
Location: Wimbledon, London
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Contract Type: Full-time (Term-time only)

About the School:

We are working with an outstanding SEN secondary school in Wimbledon that provides tailored education for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The school fosters a supportive and inclusive environment, ensuring every student achieves their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with ASD and ADHD. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide individualised support, promote engagement in learning, and help students manage their emotional and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with ASD and ADHD.

  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.

  • Support students with social skills, communication, and emotional regulation.

  • Help create a structured, sensory-friendly learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists.

  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.

  • Promote independence and confidence in learners.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD and/or ADHD (in a school, care, or support setting).

  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude – able to adapt to challenging situations.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understanding of SEN strategies, visual supports, and de-escalation techniques.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or Psychology/SEN-related degree) are desirable but not essential.

  • Team Teach training (advantageous but not required – training can be provided).
