SEN Teacher Required!

An exciting Teaching Opportunity has arisen for a SEN Teacher at an impressive, well-resourced special school situated in Sheffield, providing high quality specialist education, care and therapy for children and young people aged 4 -11  years with a wide range of learning difficulties including Autism, PMLD, SLD, complex medical needs, sensory impairments and physical disabilities.

The school are seeking a Teacher who is able to work across their Autism and PMLD provision. This teaching post will provide an excellent opportunity for experienced teachers or early career teachers who are interested in working in an outstanding school and offer exciting opportunities for professional development and personal growth.

As an SEN teacher, you'll need to:

  • Prepare lessons and resources
  • Assess learning progress
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils
  • use special equipment and facilities, such as audio-visual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning
  • Collaborate with the classroom Teaching Assistants and other class teachers to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum
  • Assess children who have severe learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs
  • Work with the head teacher and governing body to ensure that the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
  • Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events
  • Assist in supporting children with physical disabilities with personal care/medical needs
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of pupils' progress

The pay for this role is £160 - £200 per day depending on experience and the role.
