Job description

Job Title: SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location:

North West England, Lancashire, Ormskirk

Job Type:

Temporary, Full-Time

Salary:

£12.90 - £13.50 per hour

Job Duties:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a classroom setting
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Support students with learning difficulties or disabilities to access the curriculum
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths
  • Certification or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Previous experience working with children or individuals with SEN preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support students with SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher education qualification in Education, Psychology, or related field
  • Additional training in behaviour management or speech and language therapy

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a school setting with regular classroom hours
  • May involve physical activity, such as assisting students with mobility
  • Opportunity for professional development and further training in SEN support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
