Are you a Psychology Graduate with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting before pursuing a career in educational psychology, counselling, or SEN support?
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Birmingham. This role is ideal for a Psychology graduate eager to apply their knowledge and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Support children with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and develop social skills
✅ Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored interventions and engaging lessons
✅ Use your psychology background to understand and implement behaviour management strategies
✅ Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional needs
✅ Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs to promote students’ well-being and progress
✅ Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ A Psychology degree (or related field) – ideal for graduates considering educational psychology, therapy, or teaching
✔️ Passion for mental health, SEN, and child development
✔️ Experience working with children or young people (e.g., mentoring, tutoring, voluntary work)
✔️ Strong empathy, patience, and resilience
✔️ A proactive and caring approach to supporting children’s emotional well-being
