Job description

A specialist school in Manchester is looking for full-time Teaching Assistants. The school need teaching assistants with experience working alongside children with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This would be a great role for anyone looking to gain experience in a school environment and working with children on an EHCP.

The school offers students a different approach to education away from mainstream schooling as this may not have been the best approach for them, from year 7 up to year 13, and offers both GCSE and vocational qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you would be responsible for helping students with their work either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. You would work alongside teachers to provide a well-rounded and effective curriculum for each child, whilst ensuring that they stay motivated and engaged within a classroom setting.

Desirable skills:

  • Excellent communication
  • Previous experience with children that display challenging behaviours or have additional needs
  • Experience in dealing with difficult situations and the ability to keep students calm and attentive
  • Ability to individualise approach for each student and help them to learn in the way that best suits them

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
