About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our small Primary School in Blackley, Manchester. This role is pivotal in supporting children in KS2 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside those who exhibit challenging behaviours. You will be working closely with teaching staff and the school SENCO to ensure that each child receives tailored support, enabling them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
What would your day to day look like?
- You will provide one-on-one and small group support to children in KS2 with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with their learning.
- You will have your input in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Management Plans.
- Each day you will support teaching staff in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, where all children feel valued and recognized.
- You will use your skills to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilience.
- Daily you will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of each child.
- Your role will require you to monitor and report on children’s progress, identify any areas of concern and contribute to regular reviews and assessments.
- You will have opportunities to accompany children on educational visits, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience working within an educational setting.
- A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and the impact these can have on learning and behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
