SEMH Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference!

Location: Blackpool.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
Contract: Full-time, temporary.

The Role - 

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be pivotal in supporting students both academically and emotionally. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning plans and provide one-on-one or group support. Your role will go beyond traditional teaching – you’ll mentor, guide, and encourage students to develop positive coping strategies, build resilience, and engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities - 

  • Support students with SEMH needs in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Help to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of educational health care plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support students’ holistic development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping them to develop confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with managing challenging behaviors in a calm and constructive manner.

About you - 

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or similar needs (desired but not essential).
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.
  • The ability to manage challenging situations with confidence and resilience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
