SEMH Teacher
Job description
A secondary pupil referral unit in Stockport are looking for a full-time teacher to take on a position as soon as possible in which multiple core subjects will need to be taught. The students are aged 11-16 and are all currently out of mainstream schooling due to various social, emotional and mental health needs, and so need additional support when in school.
Due to small classroom sizes, you will work with the students on a variety of topics that they are currently studying, and may be expected to plan and mark work for some of these lessons.
All students will have an EHCP that will guide their learning and support, so you will be expected to build knowledge of the different plans in place and be able to implement this into your work and teaching.
For this role you should:
- Have a teaching qualification and/or extensive teaching experience
- Be flexible with your work style and work in a way that is best for each student
- Have previous experience teaching secondary aged pupils in a school environment
- Have previous experience teaching or working young people with challenging behaviour
- Have a team teach qualification/equivalent qualification or be willing to undertake this during your time at the school
- Be confident in working and supporting students independently
- Be able to work alongside support staff to provide a comprehensive learning experience for students

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
