SEMH Functional Skills Teacher – Small Class Sizes, Supportive Environment

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you thrive in a nurturing and supportive setting where you can truly inspire and empower students?

We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Teacher to join our team, delivering essential Maths and English skills to small groups of students who require a tailored approach to their learning.

What Are SEMH Needs?
Students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs may face challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, or difficulty managing emotions and behavior. These difficulties can impact their ability to engage in education, so a patient, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach is essential to supporting their learning and personal development.

What We Offer

  • Small class sizes – ensuring you can provide the attention and support each student needs
  • A supportive and collaborative environment – work alongside a dedicated team that values your input
  • A trauma-informed approach – recognising and responding to students' experiences with empathy and care
  • A rewarding role – help students develop confidence, resilience, and key skills for their future
  • Professional development – ongoing training and opportunities to grow in your career

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Be passionate about working with students with SEMH needs
  • Have experience teaching Functional Skills in Maths and/or English (desirable)
  • Use a trauma-informed approach to create a safe, trusting, and structured learning environment
  • Be patient, resilient, and adaptable to individual learning styles
  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification (QTS preferable, QTLS or equivalent also considered)

If you're ready to make a real impact and be part of a school that values both students and staff, we would love to hear from you.
