SEMH 1:1 Classroom Assistant
Located: Bath Area
Pay: £84 minimum – Competitive rates

Teaching personnel are looking to recruit a SEMH 1:1 assistant to join one of our local schools.
This school is a supportive and inclusive educational environment dedicated to fostering the academic and personal growth of all their students. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) 1:1 Classroom Assistant to join our team and provide tailored support to students with specific needs.
Overview:
As a SEMH 1:1 Classroom Assistant, you will work closely with an individual student, helping them to engage with their learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. You will collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages the student’s progress and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to a designated student with SEMH needs in the classroom setting.
- Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning objectives.
- Implement strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Forster a supportive and safe environment to help students build confidence and independence
- Collaborate with teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to develop and review Individual Education Plan (IEPs)
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
- Support student during social interactions and help them develop appropriate social skills.
- Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
- A relevant qualification in education or child development (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build a positive relationship with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and proactive approach to supporting student learning and well-being.
- Ability to work as art of a team and adapt to the individual needs of students.
- Enhanced DBS Check Compulsory (We can assist with this)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
