Position: Science Teacher
Location: Independent Special School, Silverstone
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2024
Contract: Permanent
An esteemed and highly reputable SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join the permanent staff list at their independent special school in Silverstone, commencing in September 2024.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science education to students with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role demands a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging science lessons tailored to the needs of students.
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other professionals and families.
- Employ a range of teaching strategies and resources to support diverse learning styles.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
- Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote best practices and contribute to the school’s development.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Science or a closely related subject.
- Previous experience teaching science within a special educational needs setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
- A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to teaching.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience with specialized teaching methods and tools for students with SEMH needs.
- Knowledge of current educational practices and innovations in science education.
