Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a co-educational secondary school located in the heart of Portsmouth, seeking a teacher of Science to join the department from April 2025 or sooner.

You will be joining a vibrant and dynamic secondary school that prides itself on providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for its students. The school is committed to fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, ensuring that every student can succeed and thrive, both academically and personally. The school offers a strong curriculum, and extensive extra-curricular offerings and was graded ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted during their most recent visit.  Ofsted inspectors highlighted several strengths during their visit to the school including strong teacher - student relationships a safe and supportive environment and an exceptional careers provision with links to Portsmouth University.

The role:

The school are seeking a fully qualified teacher of Science to teach across KS3 and KS4, an educator who is willing to take on the full teaching role of planning and marking.  The appointed teacher would be required from Easter (Tuesday 22nd April) or sooner if possible.  This is a full-time post ongoing until July 2025, with the potential to become a longer term or permanent role for the right educator.

What we’re looking for:

  • Enthusiasm for delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Specialising in Biology, Chemistry or Physics with the ability to teach all science across KS3 and KS4.
  • Desire to help pupils successfully master an ambitious science curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
