Science Teacher (Key Stage 3) – Full-Time Role at an Alternative Provision School in Liverpool

Are you a dedicated and passionate Science teacher who thrives on making a real difference in students’ lives? Do you have experience supporting young people who face barriers in mainstream education and the skills to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism?

Position: Science Teacher (Key Stage 3)
Location: Alternative Provision School, Liverpool
Contract: Full-Time (Temp to Permanent)

Located in Liverpool, this Alternative Provision School offers a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Many of the students have faced challenges in mainstream settings and benefit from a more tailored, compassionate approach to learning. The school is committed to helping each student thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:

They are seeking a confident, committed, and inspiring Science teacher to deliver engaging and accessible lessons to Key Stage 3 students. This role is ideal for someone who is not only a subject specialist but also deeply values the power of positive relationships and personalised education. You'll be instrumental in supporting students with additional needs, helping them re-engage with learning and reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging Science lessons to Key Stage 3 students, adapting content to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Effectively manage classroom behaviour and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their academic and emotional development.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to provide holistic support to learners.

  • Contribute to the broader growth and positive ethos of the school community.

What You’ll Need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Science, preferably at Key Stage 3.

  • A background in working with students who have EHCPs or who have struggled in mainstream education.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, supportive approach.

  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed, with the ability to build meaningful connections.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
