Job Advert: Full-Time Science Teacher – Key Stage 3 (Alternative Provision)

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a team as a Science Teacher for Key Stage 3 in an Alternative Provision setting.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Science Teacher to deliver high-quality education to Key Stage 3 students in a supportive, engaging, and structured environment. Working with small groups, you will be responsible for planning and delivering science lessons that inspire curiosity and foster a love for learning. This role requires a teacher who is committed to understanding and meeting the needs of students who may present challenging behaviour and who can create a classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging science lessons for Key Stage 3 students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of students in an alternative provision setting.
  • Support and guide students, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, encouraging them to engage with their learning and reach their full potential.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and happy environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to implement individualised support plans and positive behaviour strategies.

  • Supportive and Compassionate – Able to provide emotional support and encouragement, showing empathy and patience.
  • Reliable and Consistent – Committed to providing a stable and dependable presence for students.
  • Engaging and Inspiring – Passionate about making science accessible, interesting, and fun for all students.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with young people who present challenging behaviour, ideally in an alternative provision or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of Key Stage 3 science curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff alike.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
