Science Specialist Cover Supervisor – Flexible Opportunities in Southampton

We are looking for a Science Specialist Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools in Southampton. Whether you’re a qualified teacher (QTS) or have experience or qualifications in a science-related subject (e.g., Level 2/3 qualifications, NVQs, A Levels, or a degree), this flexible role provides a rewarding way to share your expertise while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

About the Role:

  • Specialist subject cover: Deliver engaging science lessons across KS3 and KS4, inspiring curiosity in biology, chemistry, and physics.
  • Flexible teaching placements: Take on short-term or long-term assignments that fit your availability and preferences.
  • Supportive environment: Most roles do not require planning or marking. For longer-term assignments, additional responsibilities may apply, but salaries will always reflect your workload and be negotiated to ensure you feel valued.
  • General cover: Occasionally supervise lessons in other subjects, helping maintain a positive and productive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Science expertise: Experience teaching, studying, or working in biology, chemistry, physics, or related fields.
  • Classroom confidence: Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, or mentoring capacity is highly desirable.
  • Inspiring and adaptable: Able to deliver engaging lessons that captivate students and foster a love for science.
  • Flexible and reliable: Open to a variety of placements across schools in Southampton, with the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
