Job description

Are you an empathetic and skilled tutor with experience supporting students with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)?

We are looking for a dedicated EBSA Tutor to join our team, supporting students in the Reading area who are struggling with school avoidance due to emotional and psychological challenges. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with students, design engaging sessions, and help re-engage them with their education in a safe and supportive environment.

Your expertise will be pivotal in guiding students through their emotional barriers, re-building their confidence, and helping them rediscover a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of each student and create tailored learning plans to support their emotional and educational needs.

  • Design and deliver engaging, interactive sessions that motivate students and encourage participation.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and supported in their learning.

  • Implement strategies to help reduce anxiety and overcome barriers to school engagement, focusing on both academic and emotional development.

  • Regularly monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies and support as required.

  • Maintain open and constructive communication with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting each student.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with students experiencing EBSA and the ability to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and develop trusting relationships with students.

  • Ability to design and deliver motivating and engaging sessions tailored to individual needs.

  • Experience with strategies to help re-engage students with their learning and reduce anxiety around school.

  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, SEN, or related fields (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
