Job Role: School Cleaner – SEN School
Location: SEN School, Darwen, Lancashire
Contract: Part-Time, Permanent
Salary: £12.71 to £13.22 per hour (depending on experience

Are you a reliable and hardworking individual looking for a cleaning role in a supportive and friendly environment? Our client, a specialist SEN school in Darwen, Lancashire, is seeking a School Cleaner to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
Role Overview
As a School Cleaner, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school. Your work will help provide a hygienic and safe space for children with special educational needs, ensuring that classrooms, corridors, and communal areas are kept clean and tidy.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a school community that makes a real difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Duties to include the following:
- Vacuum cleaning floors.
- Spot cleaning of spillages.
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass.
- Emptying and cleaning bins (daily).
- Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
- Wiping, dusting, cobweb removal, polishing.
- Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets, etc (daily).
- Undertake deep clean as and when required.
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work and ensure the building is secure on exit.
- Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time.
Required Skills & Experience
- Some knowledge of Health and Safety Regulation in regards to cleaning equipment and cleaning materials.
- Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the school team.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to prioritise work and be flexible.
- Experience of undertaking a range of cleaning duties.
