Job Title: Experienced Qualified Teacher (QTS) – Citywide Pupil Referral Unit
Location: Across Birmingham, covering multiple campuses
Salary: £27000 - 50000
Contract Type: Full-time Monday - Friday
Start Date: Feb 2025
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join the City of Birmingham School, Birmingham City Council’s Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). This is a unique opportunity to work across a dynamic and diverse school environment, offering tailored educational programmes for pupils aged 5 to 16.
The role involves teaching at one or more of our seven specialised campuses, including one primary campus (Stratford Park), three Key Stage 3 campuses (Grove, Millpool, and Oxted Hall), and three Key Stage 4 campuses (Kings, Firsbrook, and Link). You will play a key role in delivering a personalised curriculum that is both broad and enriched with experiences designed to re-engage and inspire our pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons based on the national curriculum and tailored to individual learning needs.
- Inspire and motivate pupils by incorporating a variety of learning experiences, including outdoor education, chess, and enrichment activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across campuses to ensure consistency and best practice.
- Provide guidance and support to pupils, fostering positive attitudes toward learning and personal growth.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and other professionals to promote engagement and success.
- Contribute to the development of outreach support for schools and settings on a traded basis.
About You
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record of working successfully with pupils requiring additional support.
- Have experience or an interest in working within a Pupil Referral Unit or similar setting.
- Demonstrate creativity, resilience, and adaptability in delivering innovative learning opportunities.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage pupils, families, and colleagues.
- Show a commitment to promoting the social, emotional, and academic development of every pupil.
- Be a reflective practitioner eager to contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s provision.
