Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position begins in October and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The weekly pay for this role is £419.25 to £500.
Role Overview:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' learning and well-being within the school environment. This position is ideal for a recent Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience in education, particularly in understanding and applying psychological principles in a classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Assistance: Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and provide support to students during class. You will help facilitate a positive learning environment and assist in explaining psychological concepts to students.

One-on-One and Group Support: Offer tailored support to students who may benefit from additional help. This includes working with small groups or on a one-on-one basis, helping students grasp difficult concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for exams.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Collaborate with the SEN department to assist students with special educational needs. Your understanding of psychological principles will be valuable in supporting students with learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, and emotional needs.

Behavioral Support: Utilize your psychology background to support positive behavior management strategies in the classroom. You will work alongside teachers to implement interventions that promote good behavior and emotional well-being among students.

Well-being Initiatives: Participate in the development and delivery of well-being programs aimed at improving students' mental health and resilience. Your role may include running workshops, supporting mindfulness activities, and helping to create a supportive school culture.

Assessment and Feedback: Assist in monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback. You will help teachers assess students' understanding of psychological concepts and contribute to the planning of interventions where needed.

Resource Development: Help in the creation and organization of educational materials that support the teaching of psychology and related subjects. This includes preparing lesson plans, worksheets, and multimedia resources.

Pastoral Support: Provide additional support to students who may be facing emotional or social challenges. Your role will involve listening to students' concerns, offering guidance, and working with the school's pastoral care team to ensure each student receives the support they need.
Ideal Candidate:
- A recent graduate with a degree in Psychology, possessing a strong understanding of psychological theories and their application in educational settings.
- Passionate about education and supporting young people, with a particular interest in mental health and well-being.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
- An empathetic and patient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Experience working with young people, whether through previous roles, volunteering, or placements, is highly advantageous.
- A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A desire to pursue a career in education, psychology, or related fields, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
