Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is currently looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join one of our client schools in Glossop. This would be an ideal position for a Psychology Graduate, looking to start a career in education, or gain experience working with children with special educational needs.
For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, and that you are able to provide at least two employment-based references. It is also important that you are aware of safeguarding procedures.
This position will be a full-time position, starting in March. Predominantly, you will be working on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students who have autism, ADHD, or other moderate learning difficulties. You must have a good understanding of the behavioural traits that the pupils may display such as uncooperative behaviour. Behaviour management is central to this position. 9% of this school’s student population receive additional SEN support, with 2% of these pupils having an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP). Assisting pupils with their EHCPs will also be an important part of this position.
The salary for this position will be between £420 and £450 per week.
The school is in a relatively affluent area, the proportion of pupils who are eligible for free school meals is about the same as the national average. 43% of their student population are leaving year 11, having achieved a grade 5 or higher in both Maths and English. This is 5% lower than the national average.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
