Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Cheadle
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience in education? Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a well-established secondary school in Cheadle, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This full-time role begins in October and runs until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance.

- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the learning and development of students, particularly those with additional needs or requiring extra support. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting teachers in the delivery of lessons, particularly within the Psychology and Social Sciences departments
- Providing targeted support to students with varying abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Working one-on-one with students or in small groups to help them grasp challenging concepts and improve their academic performance
- Supporting classroom behaviour management and ensuring a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Assisting with lesson planning, preparation of resources, and marking under the supervision of teaching staff
- Helping to deliver intervention sessions or well-being workshops to support students’ emotional and mental health
- Contributing to the school’s pastoral care by building positive relationships with students and offering encouragement and guidance
What We're Looking For:
- A recent graduate with a degree in Psychology or a related field
- A passion for working with young people and a strong interest in education, mental health, or child development
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate secondary school students
- Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach, particularly when working with students who may face challenges in their learning or personal development
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Any prior experience working with children, young people, or individuals with SEN/SEMH needs is highly desirable but not essential
