Supply Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay: £85 - £100 per day
Job Type: Flexible Working
Start Date: March 2025

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit Primary School Teaching Assistants seeking full-time, part-time, or flexible work for the remainder of the academic year. If you are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development and want a role that fits around your schedule, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will have the chance to work across a variety of Early Years, Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2) settings. This role is ideal for those looking to gain experience in different schools, develop their skills, and make a real impact on children’s education.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an adaptable, patient, and enthusiastic individual who can support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons. You will need to:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
  • Help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers and school staff to support children’s development

Key Requirements

  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting (preferred but not essential)
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards supporting young learners
  • An Enhanced DBS Check (Child Workforce) on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential)

This role is perfect for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Nursery Assistants, or anyone considering a career in education, including those looking to gain experience before pursuing teacher training.
