Job description

We are recruiting for a Primary Practitioner to work as a Tutor within a ‘Good’ Burnley Primary School from January 2025. The Head and Deputy Head Teachers have stressed the importance of finding someone who is the right fit for the school and are therefore willing to consider Fully Qualified Teachers, Newly Qualified Teachers, HLTA’s and experience primary tutors. The school is of average size, located in the heart of Burnley and has a diverse catchment of pupils. The senior leadership team are strong, experienced, and positively implement an effective behavioural management policy. However, due to the catchment of pupils in school, some students may be considered disengaged with their learning, especially following on from COVID school closures. As these are some of the children the school wishes to focus upon, (others are below target for various other reasons), the school wishes to appoint someone capable of properly engaging and communicating with these children.

The school are hoping to begin the tutoring in January 2025 and are looking to run the sessions 3 afternoons a week on a small group basis. The first-year groups to receive the tutoring will be years 5 and 6 with a focus upon reading and maths, dependent upon the success of the sessions, this may be extended across year groups and subjects.
