Early Reading Intervention Support, Ormskirk
I am working in partnership with the Head Teacher of a primary school in Ormskirk to recruit a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience of raising attainment in Early Reading. The role will involve working with selected pupils across EYFS and Key Stage 1 to support their Phonics understanding and Reading skills.
The position is part-time (working hours to be confirmed).
Monday 4th September 2023 - 4th April 2024
It expected that there will be a need for more Phonics intervention in Year 2 than usual and, in order to have the greatest impact on Reading attainment across school, the Head Teacher and Senior Leaders have selected to focus upon Early Reading. Currently, the school use Floppy's Phonics.
The successful candidate will have recent experience of planning and delivering small group Phonics sessions and will be familiar with the curriculum for Reading in Early Years and KS1. They will be confident planning and teaching for learning and assessing pupils’ progress in these areas. In line with the Government Guidance, evidence must be provided for the impact achieved.
Ofsted have graded the school ‘Good’ in all areas. Leadership and staff work effectively to provide a harmonious learning community. Staff are dedicated to meet the individual needs of pupils and their families, while encouraging pupils to reach their full potential academically.
The school is smaller than the average-sized primary school. An above average proportion of pupils are known to be eligible for the pupil premium. The proportion of pupils with SEN and/or disabilities is also above that normally found.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
