Are you an experienced and dedicated Phonics Intervention Teacher looking to make a significant impact on young learners' literacy skills?

Position: Phonics Intervention Teacher

Location: Wakefield and surrounding areas

Contract Type: Full-time, temporary (with potential for long-term)

Start Date: September 2023

Salary: Competitive rates (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

 As a Phonics Intervention Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting children who require additional assistance with their phonics and early reading skills. Working closely with small groups or individual pupils, you will implement effective intervention strategies to enhance their literacy abilities. Your dedication to fostering a love for reading and developing strong phonics proficiency will be essential in helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted phonics intervention sessions to identified students, tailoring approaches to suit individual needs.
  • Implement engaging and interactive activities that promote phonics development and early reading comprehension.
  • Regularly assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to monitor their improvement.
  • Collaborate with the school's SENCo and other teaching staff to create a cohesive learning experience for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and contribute to student progress reports.

About You:

We are seeking an experienced Phonics Intervention Teacher who is passionate about literacy and dedicated to supporting pupils' learning journeys. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of delivering successful phonics interventions and improving reading skills in primary-aged students.
  • Sound knowledge of phonics assessment methods and the ability to use data to inform teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with students and colleagues, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • A patient and nurturing approach, enabling students to develop confidence and enthusiasm for reading.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with relevant training or experience in phonics instruction.
