ROLE: Pastoral Support Worker

LOCATION: PRESTON

PAY: Competitive

HOURS: 9:00-13:00 MONDAY-FRIDAY TERM TIME 

START: April 2024

The Headteacher and SENCO of a small Primary School in Preston are on the lookout for a pastoral support worker to work closely alongside the SENCO to identify children in school who require additional SEMH support.

This is a new role in school supporting the school’s SENCO, no two days are the same at this school and the role will be diverse and involve liaising with outside agencies, providing support to individual and small groups of children, working from EHCPs and liaising with class teachers regarding individual children and writing tailored IEPs.

The ability to build excellent relationships with children and families is essential for this role and applicants must have a proven track record of this. The SENCO is keen to make sure each child is receiving the right level of support in light with current circumstances and bring new fresh ideas to the school on how they can improve Children’s Mental Health. The successful applicant must be committed to inclusion and understand the need of the children and the school. The applicant must be dynamic and resilient and be confident liaising with staff members at all levels. This is an excellent rewarding opportunity.

The working hours will be 9:00-13:00 each day and the role will continue until December 2024. This is a new role in school and the Headteacher is keen to renew the contract again from January 2025 for the 2024/25 academic year.

A Childcare or Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent is essential for this role – Level 3 or above. Rates of pay are competitive for work of this nature (£16-£20 per hour).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
