Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Chef to join a vibrant nursery in Truro (TR3) through Teaching Personnel. If you have a passion for preparing healthy and nutritious meals for young children and want to make a difference, this role is perfect for you! This is a permanent position following a successful interview.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals and snacks for children, accommodating any dietary needs and allergies.
- Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure children’s specific dietary requirements are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, adhering to food hygiene and safety standards.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure high-quality, fresh ingredients.
- Control portion sizes and present meals in a child-friendly manner.
- Promote healthy eating habits and encourage positive relationships with food.
- Keep up-to-date records of allergen information and kitchen logs, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working as a chef in a nursery, school, or similar environment is preferred.
- A valid Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above) is required.
- Strong understanding of children’s dietary needs and nutritional guidelines.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage all aspects of the kitchen, from planning to stock control.
- A passion for working with children and contributing to their health and well-being through food.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
