Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistants Required
Job description
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a partnership school based in Newport, to support schools with the new intake of pupils. We are seeking both Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistants who are patient, enthusiastic and proactive. The role will entail supporting pupils in their first stage of schooling, providing a positive, nourishing, and safe environment for each pupil. As well as taking an active part in supporting their learning.
Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to children with social, emotional, and mental health needs in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Assist in delivering a rich, inclusive curriculum that fosters confidence, resilience, and key social skills.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans for children with ALN.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Helping pupils learn numeracy and language skills through daily activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and well-being through structured interventions and activities.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils and parents and provide social and emotional support.
About You
- We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils in their earliest years of education.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and positivity, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children.
- Works well as part of a team and is proactive in using initiative to meet children’s needs.
- Any experience in early childhood education or working with children is highly valued, but not essential.
Job Title: Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30 – Part time and full-time roles available
Pay: Minimum £83.85 per day
Start: February 2025
A Successful Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant will require:
- To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
- Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
