NEW CAREER:  Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools

Location: Swansea
Position: Full-time / Part-time (Flexible hours available)
Salary: £89.38

Are you passionate about working with young learners and helping them reach their full potential? Do you have a background in coaching, care, youth group volunteering or have studied a relevant course? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting primary school educators. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes the academic and personal development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and supporting individual students with their learning.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, particularly those who may need extra help.
  • Support students’ emotional and social development, encouraging positive behaviour and interaction.
  • Help manage classroom resources and maintain a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing materials and organizing activities.
  • Foster a positive relationship with students, parents, and staff members.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, in a coaching, care, or volunteering setting (youth groups, after-school programs, etc.).
  • A passion for working with children and supporting their personal and academic growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a desire to contribute to the school's community.
  • Child Only Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of child development and learning strategies.
  • Previous experience in a classroom setting or with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students.
  • First aid qualification (training can be provided if necessary).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
