About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher with a specialism in German to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective German lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role requires an individual who can inspire students, foster a love for language learning, and help develop their confidence in both written and spoken German.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality German lessons in line with the national curriculum.

• Teach German to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, with a focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

• Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they have a solid understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context.

• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting clear targets for improvement.

• Create an engaging and immersive learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for language learning.

• Use a variety of teaching methods, including interactive activities, multimedia resources, and group work, to enhance student understanding.

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.

• Collaborate with colleagues in the MFL department to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and ways to support learning at home.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching German at Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for language learning.

• Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons that cater to a range of learning styles.

• Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

• Strong communication and organisational abilities.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
