About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher with a specialism in German to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school is known for its diverse and inclusive environment, strong academic standards, and commitment to student success.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective German lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role requires an individual who can inspire students, foster a love for language learning, and help develop their confidence in both written and spoken German.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality German lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Teach German to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, with a focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they have a solid understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting clear targets for improvement.

  • Create an engaging and immersive learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for language learning.

  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including interactive activities, multimedia resources, and group work, to enhance student understanding.

  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the MFL department to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and ways to support learning at home.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching German at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for language learning.

  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons that cater to a range of learning styles.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

  • Strong communication and organisational abilities.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
