Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with mental health challenges? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them to engage in learning and build confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.
  • Offer emotional and behavioral support, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, providing a listening ear and a consistent, reassuring presence.
  • Support students in small group settings or on a one-to-one basis, as required.

About You:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults with mental health needs, special educational needs (SEN), or in a pastoral/support role is highly desirable. We find those with a back ground in mental health support or youth work thrive in this environment.
  • A patient, calm, and understanding nature, with the ability to build trust with students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different situations.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
