Medical Needs Support Assistant (Full-Time) –
Personal Care & Tube Feeding

Location: Cardiff
Salary: £13 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time, November 2024 – July 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team in the Cardiff area. In this full-time role, you will provide essential support to students with diverse needs, helping them to thrive in an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or group support for students with additional learning needs
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting and feeding
  • Administer tube feeding following care plans and guidance
  • Support students with mobility and transfers using manual handling techniques, ensuring safety and dignity at all times
  • Implement personalised learning strategies to promote independence and confidence
  • Assist teaching staff with classroom activities, adapting learning materials when necessary
  • Monitor and report student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience in providing personal care and tube feeding
  • Manual handling training and the ability to safely assist with student mobility
  • A caring and patient attitude, with a passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in an educational setting or working with young people with special educational needs (SEN)
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care or Education Support (desirable but not essential)
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Manual Handling Training

About the school:
Working within a lovely and friendly secondary school in the Cardiff area, within key stage 3 with ages 11 to 15 with additional needs. The school has a large onsite car park and a friendly and supportive support team. The school will offer training opportunities during school inset days and you will become a valued member of staff for the academic year.
