At TP-Tutors, we believe teaching should feel purposeful, flexible, and fulfilling. We’re currently looking for dedicated Maths specialists to provide 1:1 tuition to looked-after children across Gateshead who are currently not attending school.
These are young people who need more than just a subject expert — they need a steady, encouraging presence to help them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.

You’ll be supporting students in care who, for various reasons, are not in mainstream education. Your role is more than teaching Maths — it’s about providing stability, connection, and a renewed love for learning.

What You’ll Need:

QTS and strong subject knowledge in Maths (up to GCSE).

A nurturing, patient approach and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners.

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (e.g. SEMH, SEND, or those in care).

A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Two professional references from within the last 10 years.

A UK driving licence is desirable, as some tuition may take place in homes or libraries across the Gateshead area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
