Join Our Team as a Learning Support Assistant in Newport!
Teaching Personnel is excited to announce an opportunity for dedicated individuals to join our team as Learning Support Assistants in the Newport area. Starting in October 2024, you'll be working within a secondary school ASD base, providing crucial support to young people aged 11-16 with Autism.
Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll be instrumental in both one-on-one and general classroom support, adapting daily based on the school's needs. When working with your designated 1:1 student, you'll build meaningful relationships and engage with all students to foster a supportive classroom environment. On days when your 1:1 student is absent, you'll assist with various classroom and school activities.
Position Details:
- Start Date: October 2024
- Contract Duration: Initial placement until August 2025, with potential for a permanent position
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (term time only)
- Salary: £83.85 – £91 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
- Location: Newport, with options in NP18, NP19, NP10, or NP20
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with Additional Learning Needs, particularly those with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and ADHD.
- Help students develop self-confidence and social skills, and encourage them to take pride in their achievements.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to follow school policies and contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events as needed.
What We're Looking For:
- A calm, supportive, and nurturing individual who can also be firm when necessary.
- Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential; transferable skills are valuable.
- The ability to build relationships with students and contribute positively to the classroom environment.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- EWC registration
- Ability to provide 2 references (Teaching Personnel will assist with this process)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
