Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – High Peak
Location: High Peak
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £89 - £95 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term
A friendly and inclusive secondary school in the High Peak area is looking for a nurturing and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN department. You will support a range of students across Year 7 to Year 11, many with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), in both classroom and small group settings.
Role Responsibilities:

Provide individualised support to pupils with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech/language difficulties.

Implement targeted intervention programmes to support reading, writing, numeracy, and social development.

Adapt class materials to suit learning styles and reinforce lesson content.

Collaborate closely with SENCo, teachers, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality support.

Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour, using positive reinforcement strategies.

Contribute to regular review meetings and write support notes where required.
Candidate Profile:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
-
Calm, patient, and empathetic personality.
-
A genuine interest in helping young people achieve their potential.
-
Strong organisational and communication skills.
-
Understanding of safeguarding and SEND frameworks in education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
