Key Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant Role:

  • Provide learning support to students on a one-to-one or small group basis.

  • Assist with individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural plans, ensuring students meet their academic and personal goals.

  • Build strong relationships with students, adapting your approach to meet their unique learning and behavioural needs.

  • Encourage and support students to engage in classroom activities, ensuring they interact with peers and develop important social skills.

  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for students to learn and grow.

  • Help students with classroom tasks and ensure they stay focused on learning activities.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar classroom-based role is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Strong communication and behaviour management skills, with the ability to build rapport with students of varying abilities.

  • Personal Qualities: You should be outgoing, engaging, and supportive, with a positive and proactive attitude toward student development.

  • Ability to Manage Behaviour: Experience using de-escalation techniques to support students with challenging behaviours is a plus.
