Senior Learning Support Assistant – Secondary SEN
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Scale 4 (Points 7-8)

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary school catering for pupils aged 7-13 with moderate learning difficulties, including autism, speech, language, and social communication needs. The school provides a tailored curriculum focused on key skills, independence, and personal development, fostering a culture of achievement and inclusion.

About the role:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 pupil, transitioning with them to the college site in Year 10.
  • Assist individuals and small groups under teacher guidance.
  • Support students with severe learning, behavioural, and sensory needs.
  • Help implement learning activities, monitor progress, and assist with personal care.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupil development.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of complex learning needs and behaviour strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
