Job description

We are currently recruting Learning Support Assistants to work in a vibrant and friendly school committed to providing a supportive learning environment for all pupils. We pride ourselves on our dedication to helping every student achieve their full potential, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN). The team is passionate about creating an inclusive atmosphere where diversity is celebrated, and every child is valued.

The Role:

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will work closely with a pupil in year 4 who has complex social and emotional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their academic goals. You will play a vital role in ensuring that this pupil feels integrated within the school day, whilst working on a tailored curriculum suited to their level of need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the delivery of educational healthcare plans (EHCPs.) and differentiated learning activities.
  • Support the pupil in developing essential skills, such as communication, social interaction, and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom management, including supporting positive behavior and helping to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to further enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education. You should possess:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude, with the ability to respond to the varying needs of students.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
