Position: Lead Maths Teacher
Location: West Yarner, Independent SEMH School
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2024
Contract Type: Fulltime, Permanent

A highly reputable SEMH School Group is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and experienced Lead Maths Teacher to join their esteemed team at an independent, special school located in the picturesque setting of West Yarner. This unique opportunity is perfect for a passionate educator ready to make a significant impact in the lives of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Maths department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement innovative and effective teaching strategies tailored to SEMH students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to promote the well-being and academic success of students.
  • Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the school as part of the senior leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching Maths at secondary level, preferably within an SEMH or special education setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of leading a successful department or team.
  • Excellent understanding of the challenges and best practices in teaching students with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students, staff, and the wider school community.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to engage in further training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices and therapeutic teaching approaches.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in education or a related field.
