Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in a young person's life? We’re looking for a compassionate and committed LAC Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition for Looked After Children in Darlington.

About the Role:
As a LAC Tutor, you’ll work directly with children in care who need extra educational support. Sessions are typically delivered face-to-face (occasionally online), and are designed to help learners catch up, stay on track, and build confidence.

You’ll plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the student’s needs – whether they require support with core subjects (like English, Maths or Science) or help preparing for exams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 tutoring sessions for Looked After Children

  • Adapt teaching style to meet individual learning needs

  • Build positive relationships with students and carers

  • Monitor and report progress regularly

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or strong tutoring experience

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain)

  • Experience working with vulnerable children is a plus

  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
