About the Role
Our client, a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in West Yorkshire, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic IT Teacher to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students and contribute to a high-achieving IT and Computer Science department.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging IT and Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 if applicable.
- Create an interactive and supportive learning environment that enables all students to develop their digital literacy and technical skills.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and implementing interventions where necessary.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and development, ensuring lessons are aligned with national standards and school objectives.
- Maintain high expectations of student behaviour and foster a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and stay updated with advancements in IT and computing.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student learning and progress.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and wider school initiatives, such as coding clubs, robotics competitions, or e-sports teams.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related subject.
- Experience teaching IT and/or Computer Science at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge, including programming languages, cybersecurity, and digital literacy.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A commitment to raising student attainment and supporting progress.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching IT or Computer Science at Key Stage 5.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or HTML.
- Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular activities such as coding clubs, STEM projects, or gaming tournaments.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
