Join Our Team as an Interventions Teaching Assistant – Make a Meaningful Impact Every Day!

Location: Torfaen| Position: 1:1/Small Group Interventions TA / Start: April 2025

Teaching Personnel is proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking, inclusive school in Torfaen to find a dedicated and compassionate Interventions Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and behavioural challenges in a mainstream classroom setting.

This is more than just a support role — it’s an opportunity to play a key part in a child’s educational and emotional journey, helping them unlock their full potential through tailored support and encouragement.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to pupils with ALN within the classroom environment.
  • Supporting pupils in developing core literacy and numeracy skills through creative and engaging methods.
  • Building a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning atmosphere to encourage personal and academic growth.
  • Forming strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents, offering emotional and social support where needed.
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers and fellow support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Upholding all safeguarding and child protection policies in line with school procedures.
  • Demonstrating adaptability and resilience, responding effectively to changing needs and challenges.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A caring, patient, and proactive individual who thrives in a supportive role.
  • Experience working with children with ALN or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils succeed — academically, emotionally, and socially.

Essential Requirements:

  • EWC Registered (Education Workforce Council)
  • Child-Only Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Two Professional References covering the last 24 months
  • Resilient and Supportive when managing challenging behaviour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
