Join Our Team as an Interventions Teaching Assistant – Starting April 2025
Location: Newport, South Wales
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay: Minimum £89 per day (£12.90+ per hour)
Start Date: April 2025

Teaching Personnel is proud to partner with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newport that’s seeking an Interventions Teaching Assistant to join their team in April 2025. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support children 1:1 and in small groups, helping to unlock their full potential both academically and emotionally.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver targeted support to pupils with ALN and behavioural needs, both 1:1 and in small groups.

  • Assist in developing literacy and numeracy skills through engaging and personalized learning approaches.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels supported.

  • Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and fellow support staff to deliver consistent, impactful interventions.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.

  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the classroom, using initiative and flexibility throughout the school day.

  • Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in your care.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) – or willing to register.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Child Workforce) – support with application available.

  • Able to provide 2 professional references covering the last 24 months.

  • A calm, proactive, and resilient individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.

  • Previous experience supporting ALN, behavioural needs, or working in educational settings is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
