Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Opportunity in Cheadle

Are you a recent Humanities graduate eager to gain hands-on experience in education? Teaching Personnel is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a well-established secondary school in Cheadle, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This full-time position starts in October and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent depending on performance.

Position Details:

  • Role: Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Cheadle, Greater Manchester
  • Start Date: October
  • Duration: Full-time, until the end of the academic year (with potential to become permanent)
  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting both the Humanities department and the wider school. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Humanities teachers in preparing and delivering lessons across subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies
  • Working closely with students to provide one-on-one and small group support, helping them to grasp key concepts and improve their understanding
  • Supporting students with varying academic abilities to ensure they make progress
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of extra-curricular activities, such as school trips or after-school clubs
  • Marking and assessing students’ work under the supervision of teaching staff
  • Acting as a positive role model for students and fostering a love for learning within the Humanities subjects

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in a Humanities subject (e.g., History, Geography, Politics, Religious Studies, Sociology)
  • A passion for education and a desire to support young people’s academic and personal growth
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and encouraging approach
  • The ability to engage and motivate secondary school students
  • Previous experience working with young people (in a school or otherwise) is desirable, but not essential
