Senior Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEN HLTA)
Location: Wakefield, WF5
Job Summary:
The Senior HLTA supports teachers and students in a Primary setting, providing high-quality assistance to enhance learning and ensure student development. This role involves planning and delivering interventions, managing classroom activities, and supporting the individualized needs of students with SEN.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Support:
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons.
- Support individual or small groups of students, ensuring they understand and complete tasks.
2. Intervention and Support:
- Develop and deliver targeted interventions to meet specific learning needs.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
3. Behavior Management:
- Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Address and manage challenging behavior following school policies.
4. Collaboration:
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to support student learning.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs).
5. Administrative Duties:
- Prepare classroom materials and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Extensive experience working with SEN students, preferably in a school setting.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time or part-time position, typically within school hours.
- Occasional after-school meetings or activities may be required.
Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
- Willing to travel
- Have an overseas criminal clearance or willing to apply for one
- Have a child enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
- Minimum of six months UK residency
- Experience working with children with special educational needs and leading lessons
- We do not accept those on skilled worker visas
- Please ensure you have references available upon request covering the last 24 months of employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
